100 attend educational psychology workshop

A psychology and pedagogy workshop was held yesterday, organised by Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) in collaboration with the Islamic Studies Department at the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

The workshop, attended by some 100 religious teachers along with officers and staff from various ministries, focused on key topics such as ‘The Role of Psychology in Religious Education’, ‘Guidance and Counselling: Tazkiyah An-Nafs Approach: Models and Implementation’ and ‘Integration of Psychological Elements in Islamic Education Curriculum’.

The workshop featured talks from Dr Goolam Hussein Rassool from the Centre of Islamic Studies and Civilisation, Charles Stuart University Australia; senior assistant professor Dr Hajah Salwa binti Dato Seri Setia Haji Mahalle from Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Institute of Education, Universiti Brunei Darussalam; associate professor Dr Mohd Noor bin Saper from Sultan Idris Education University (UPSI); consultant organisational psychologist Dr Alizi Alias from Malaysia; and Professor Dr Adi Atmoko from Universitas Negeri Malang, Indonesia.

Objectives included raising awareness of current issues and challenges in education and psychology, promoting dialogue to address these issues and encouraging innovation in pedagogical approaches and psychological interventions to enhance learning outcomes and student well-being. – Rokiah Mahmud
