10-year extension on contract for local OCTG supply

Nippon Steel Corporation and Sumitomo Corporation agreed to enter into a revised contract with Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP) on October 2 to extend the contract period for 10 years regarding the supply of oil country tubular goods (OCTG), including local threading and supply chain management service.

Nippon Steel and Sumitomo Corporation have been delivering seamless OCTG to BSP for over 50 years.

In 2014, VAM BRN Sdn Bhd – 60 per cent owned by Nippon Steel, 30 per cent owned by Sumitomo Corporation and 10 per cent owned by Vallourec Tubes SAS – was established to contributing to local employment in Brunei and supplying OCTG locally.

Sumitomo Corporation, meanwhile, has established SC Tubular Solutions (B) Sdn Bhd (SCTSB), a supply chain management company that handles inventory management, creating local jobs in the just-in-time supply service of OCTG with BSP.
