The latest recipient of the Agihan Zakat Modal Berusaha or tithe distribution of enterprising capital was Abdul Rahman bin Haji Abdul Kadir, who can start a fresh working life as a fisherman, improve his standard of living and feed his 12 children. He received a brand new boat, engine and a trailer.
The handing over ceremony took place at the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
In an interview, Abdul Rahman expressed gratitude to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB) for the boat and equipment.
The boat along with the engine and trailer cost BND15,443, paid with the Zakat for underprivileged. It is hoped that the distribution of the Zakat capital, will increase the spirit and efforts of the recipients to improve the standard of living.
Acting Secretary of MUIB Haji Abdul Aziz bin Haji Akop handed over the boat to Abdul Rahman.
Underprivileged families in the Sultanate continue to receive attention from the MUIB in helping to ease their burden.
