THE melodic Dikir recitation reverberated across the halls of the Pekan Seria Mosque as youth from across the Belait District participated in a Dikir Syarafil Anam competition at the mosque yesterday.
Eight groups comprising youth from across the district gathered at the mosque for the competition, divided into male and female categories.
The groups included Sautal Murtaja, Firqah Darul Muafaqah, Khalifah Al-Walid and Firqah Amatur Rahman (male category), and Ajmalunnisaa, Azzahra’, Al-Jawahirul Munawir and Al-Munajah (female category).
Head of the Youth Unit at the Mosque Affairs Department, Ministry of Religious Affairs Haji Yusli bin Haji Ashli was the guest of honour.
He was welcomed by the competition’s chairman and Head Imam of Pekan Seria Mosque, Imam Haji Aminorddin bin Haji Mohd Yussof. Over the course of the two-hour competition, groups demonstrated their talents in Dikir recitation.
The mosque’s Takmir committee members, the participants’ parents and guardians, and residents from the surrounding area were also present.
Firqah Amatur Rahman was selected as the champion in the male category with a final score of 84 per cent;
while Firqah Darul Muafaqah and Sautul Murtaja were placed second and third with a final score of 77 per cent and 74 per cent respectively.
In the female category, Al-Munajah wowed the judges with their performance, scoring the highest overall in the competition with 89 per cent, followed by Al-Jawahirul Munawir in second place (87.5 per cent) and Ajmalunnisaa in third place (81 per cent).
The guest of honour presented the prizes and trophies to the top three groups in each category.
