Some 20 young leaders aged between 14 to 17 participated in a three-day programme from July 15 to 17, organised by the Alumni of the Sustainable Ocean Alliance (SOA) Brunei.
The AdvocaLAW (Land, Air and Water) Camp programme, supported by the United States (US) Embassy in Brunei Darussalam, aimed to instil awareness on environmental sustainability to youth through exposure at an early age while providing them with the necessary skills and knowledge through sharing sessions and activities.
Participants gained knowledge and awareness on environmental sustainability, the impact of awareness on the environment, how they can play a role in the community, and low-impact lifestyle, in the hopes that it will catalyse similar actions in the future.
During the last day of the programme, the participants conducted a “plogging” activity where they collected waste along the Muara Beach while jogging to lead a healthier lifestyle.
