Nur Hasnaa Syahmina binti Md Hassanal Adilah bagged two bronze medals in the Under-12 female individual kata and Under-12 female individual kumite -30kg categories at the recent Thailand Open Karate-do Championship 2022 in Phuket, Thailand.
The young athlete was part of a seven-person contingent from Shotokan Karate Brunei Darussalam representing the Sultanate.
“I’m very happy that I won two bronze medals for Brunei after a two-month intensive training at the Menglait Sports Complex,” she said in an interview with the Weekend.
The young exponent also expressed gratitude to her parents, coach Shihan Sofian and Sensei Bahar for their guidance.
Led by coach Shihan Sofian, the local athletes competed in Under-12 male and female individual kata; Under-12 female individual kumite -30kg; senior male individual kata; and senior male individual kumite +84kg categories.
A total of over 800 athletes from 25 nations participated this year.
