Yi’s Nation V2 survived a late scare to earn a much-deserved 76-70 victory against Tutong Basketball in the second day of the 5.11 National Basketball League at the Brunei Basketball Association Court in Batu Bersurat last night.

Tutong Basketball wiped off a nine-point deficit after a flurry of devastating attacks from Yi’s Nation V2. But, Tutong clawed their way back into the tie falling behind by only a point, giving both teams all to play for in the fourth quarter.

Yi’s Nation V2 player Fang Bo Yuan provided a bounce pass to Darren Yap who converted the two points with relative ease and helped establish a three-point lead.

Jonathan Lim then made a perfectly timed pocket pass to Jamri Ramlee to take the lead again to 28-27 before Termizi Noorden turned on the style with a brilliant pass, which was greeted by the welcoming arms of under-23 player William Ching.

With Yi’s Nation V2 seemingly finding their rhythm, William Ching asserted his influence in the match with back-to-back three-pointers to extend his team’s lead by nine points.

Termizi then combined with Jamri as he exhibited his passing range shortly after dropping a three-pointer off the right side of the court.

However, Tutong Basketball refused to bow down and got within four points of their opponents heading into the final quarter.

Suddenly, a three-pointer from On Chee Khong made the game in the balance with both sides looking for a late charge.

Yi’s Nation V2’s Brendan Lim took matters inn his own hands with a two-pointer before converting a free-throw to put his side slightly ahead with a four-point lead.

Tutong Basketball’s Jaron On helped his side to the lead with four minutes to play but William came up with the goods with a three-pointer to ensure that both teams still had an equal chance.

On Chee Khong then combined with Daniel Suleiman Sim to take his side ahead but Darren Yap delivered a three-pointer master-class to turn the game around with Jonathan inflicting
further damage.

Meanwhile, Easyway defeated Yi’s Nation 101-84 in the second game on Friday night with the damage done mostly in the third quarter.

Belait District Basketball Association also enjoyed a win in the opening day after a tightly contested affair against Team 409.
