YAYASAN Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (YSHHB) Primary School launched its Language Month at the school’s assembly area yesterday morning.
YSHHB Primary School Headmistress Hajah Mariam binti Haji Ladi officiated the launch.
Organised by the school as part of measures to produce excellent, knowledgeable and confident students, Language Month will feature various interactive activities aimed at helping the school’s students learn Malay, Arabic and Chinese languages.
The granddaughter of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Raihaanah Hanaa-ul Bolqiah binti Pengiran Anak Khairul Khalil also joined in the activities.
For this year’s event, the Department of Malay Language is holding activities to showcase students’ learning work for January to June, while for vocabulary activities, students will search for words from the dictionary.
Students will also take part in an activity where they will build sentences from words provided in a jar, and also perform acting skits based on characters from a provided storybook.
Bahasa Melayu is taught at the school as a core subject, while Arabic and Chinese languages are also included in the school’s teaching programme.
