YAYASAN Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah will hold its Hari Raya celebration today with the theme ‘Agricultural Sector: The Survivability of the People and Nation’.
This year, the celebration focusses on farmers, fishermen, entrepreneurs and individuals who engage in developing the agricultural sector including agrifood, livestock, fisheries and forestry.
Youth and students taking agriculture courses and several agencies involved in supporting the agricultural sector will also participate.
The event will serve as a platform to bring together farmers and fishermen as well as entrepreneurs to meet traders from enterprises, companies, supermarkets, restaurants, hospitality and catering services as well as exporters and producers to market their agricultural products through business networking.
The theme is in line with the call of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam to develop the agricultural sector towards self-sufficiency and country’s economic growth and also to enhance the agricultural sector’s output and the ability to contribute to the gross domestic product (GDP) as well as generating employment opportunities.
