    XNP emerge winners of Teacher’s Day bowling meet

    XNP (Strike No Problem) emerged winners of the championship trophy of the 29th Teacher’s Day Celebration Tenpin Bowling Championship at the iBowl Utama Bowling in Batu Satu yesterday.

    The team claimed top place in the overall men’s team event after they accumulated a total of 2,153 pinfalls. Chung Hwa Middle School (CHMS) Dragon finished in second place with 1,942 pinfalls followed by K6 Bowlers (Cluster 6) in third place with 1,935 pinfalls.

    Meanwhile, CHMS Phoenix emerged winners of the overall women’s team event after they accumulated 1,550 pinfalls, trailed by Rimba II Striker Uno in second place with 1,522 points and Muda Hashim Secondary School, Tutong in third place with 1,506 points.

    Dr Adam bin Haji Jait emerged winner in the men’s VIP event after recording a total of 600 pinfalls over a three-game series. Shahrizal bin Haji Emran finished as runner-up after knocking down 509 pinfalls while Julaihi bin Mohammad settled for third place with 488 pinfalls.

    In the women’s VIP category, Pengiran Dr Seri Rahayu binti Pengiran Ya’akub emerged as the winner after accumulating 452 pinfalls, while Norhaiyati binti Haji Seruddin finished second with 410 points. Hajah Murni binti Abdullah took third place with 375 pinfalls.

    For the individual accolades, Pengiran Saiful Rizal of XNP was named the men’s top player after knocking down 675 pinfalls, while Marilie of Rimba II Striker Uno was named the women’s top player after accumulating 483 pinfalls.

    Permanent Secretary (Core Education) at the Ministry of Education Dr Shamsiah Zuraini Kanchanawati binti Haji Tajuddin presented the prizes.

    The championship was open to the communities of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Religious Affairs through invitation who are still in service only.

    Organised by the Co-Curriculum Education Department, the competition, among others, aimed to enliven the 29th Teacher’s Day celebration; to develop the sport of tenpin bowling among the Ministry of Education community as well as to identify players among the Ministry of Education community who acquire the competence to represent the ministry in events at inter-ministry, national or international level.
