A workshop at the Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah concluded with a presentation of certificates for the participants, who are Qaris and Qariahs in the upcoming finals of the National Al-Quran Reading Competition for adults for 1441 Hijrah/2020 yesterday.

This was followed with a speech from Head of the International and MABIMS Division at the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) Haji Mohammad Albi bin Haji Ibrahim. He said said the workshop sought to improve the participants’ tarannum (melodic recitation) skills through sharing sessions conducted by a renowned Qariah from Morocco.
The participants received their certificates from Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Religious) at the MoRA Haji Mohd Serudin bin Haji Timbang.
A souvenir was also presented to the workshop facilitator Hasnae Khoulali, a prominent Qariah and a first-prize winner at the International Al-Quran Reading Competition in Kuala Lumpur in 2012.
Participant Dayangku Fauziah Nadhirah binti Pengiran Haji Jofri said this is her fourth qualification for the National Al-Quran Reading Competition for Adults.
“My Al-Quran training usually starts one or two months before the competition. It is led by my mother, and we practise every week together with my sister, who is also a finalist in the competition,” she said.
The finals of the National Al-Quran Reading Competition for Adults for 1441 Hijrah/2020 will be held on January 28-29 at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Berakas.
