KOLEJ International Graduate Studies (KIGS) students participated in a one-day Language and Workplace Communication Workshop organised by the Faculty of General Studies recently.
Facilitated by lecturers Siti Nur Atiqah binti Haji Mohd Noor and Adi Zulfadhli bin Abd Rahman, the workshop content included information on work placement after graduation, communication skills and preparing a work resume.
The session began with a welcoming speech by Head of the Faculty of General Studies, Syakirin bin Suhaimi. It concluded with a certificate presentation by Head Registrar Pengiran Abdul Aziz bin Pengiran Haji Sabtu to the participants.
According to Head of Multimedia and Broadcasting Haji Hasnul bin Hamdani, communication is an important skill for every student. “With advances in digital media and changing career landscapes in addition to greater competition in colleges as well as workplaces, improving student communication skills is essential,” he said.
He also added, “Memorising tips and guidance on the night before a major interview won’t work if the students are trying to make an impression in the collaborative workplaces of the future; and when it comes to acquiring indispensable communication skills, there is no time like the present.”
