THE Financial Literacy Workshop organised by the Curriculum Development Department, Ministry of Education (MoE) in collaboration with the Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam (AMBD), the Employees Trust Fund (TAP), and the Financial Planning Association of Brunei Darussalam (FPAB) continued in the Belait District yesterday.
Held in conjunction with the Global Money Week, the workshop was participated by students from Perdana Wazir Secondary School, Sayyidina Ali Secondary School and Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar Secondary School at the multipurpose hall of Perdana Wazir Secondary School.
Aimed at raising financial awareness to students and the importance of saving at an early age, it was in line with this year’s theme ‘Save, Learn, Earn’.
The workshop began with a briefing on Global Money Week 2019 delivered by the Head of Entrepreneurship and Business Unit from the Curriculum Development Department Halimahtun Saadiah binti Pehin Datu Indera Setia Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Sulaiman.
It was continued with a talk on financial planning for youth by the FPAB delivered by Financial Planner Yong Shih Ching which highlighted the importance of differentiating between needs and wants and the advantages of savings.
Following the talk, TAP also conducted a briefing and activities titled ‘Big Dream’ led by its Head of Retirement Planning Service Sri Nazrina binti Haji Johari where students participated in various scenarios of managing their finances.
Representatives from the AMBD organised ‘Shop Smart Challenge’ and ‘Budget Allocation Games’ for the students during the workshop.
