The Brunei Darussalam Women’s Council (MWNBD) organised the ASEAN Confederation of Women’s Organisations (ACWO) President Task Handover Ceremony at the Wafa Hotel and Apartment, Beribi last Friday.
Permanent Secretary (Community) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Hajah Nor Ashikin binti Haji Johari, the guest of honour, witnessed the handover.
The event saw the President of the Philippine Women’s Development Council Dr Cecilia DY, in her capacity as the 21st President of ACWO, receive the ACWO necklace and flag from the President of MWNBD cum 20th President of ACWO Datin Hajah Siti Hajar binti Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Awang Mohd Yusof.
Prior to the event, there were bi-annual general meeting and confederation council meeting in the morning.
The ACWO makes up of national women’s councils in each ASEAN member country.
The MWNBD is this year’s host for the 20th ACWO Bi-Annual General Assembly.
