Woman held for allegedly spreading insulting message

A WOMAN was detained by the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) on February 26 for an alleged involvement in circulating several insulting messages through WhatsApp.

Following a report, personnel from the Belait Police Station detained the suspect for further investigation.

The RBPF reminded the public that any written or vocal word that insults or humiliates government servants is a serious offence and action will be taken.

If found guilty, the offender will face a fine of not more than BND5,000 and imprisonment of not more than two years under Section 4 (1) (c) of the Sedition Act of Chapter 24.
