Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) took centre stage at the 18th National Youth Day celebrations at the International Convention Centre in Berakas yesterday, showcasing the projects of winners from the bank’s inaugural Sustainability Youth Leadership Award.
The four project winners, Projek Hayaa’ in the Education Cluster, IKLIM Chapters in the Environment Cluster, Project Pink Box in the Health Cluster, and Upskilling Tutong in the Jobs Cluster, presented their innovative project ideas to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
BIBD Sustainability Youth Leadership Award aims to empower the younger generation to be agents of change, addressing pressing environmental, social, and economic challenges in line with Brunei Vision 2035 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The initiative is a collaborative effort, implemented in partnership with the SDG Unit of the Wawasan Brunei Secretariat Office, the Brunei Climate Change Secretariat under the Prime Minister’s Office, the Youth Department and Sports of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, and Green Brunei, representing the Brunei Youth Council.
BIBD’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Junaidi bin Haji Masri expressed commendation for the outstanding achievements of the award winners and their dedication to the nation’s betterment. He emphasised that their initiatives embody the spirit of being Bruneian at Heart, promoting Brunei Vision 2035 and inspiring others to embrace sustainable practices for a brighter future.
The BIBD Sustainability Youth Leadership Award underscores the bank’s commitment to nurturing a generation of leaders who will contribute to a sustainable and resilient society.
