Welcoming Islamic new year

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and its departments commemorated the Islamic new year of 1444 Hijrah with religious programmes, at its Banquet Hall yesterday.

Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof was the guest of honour.

The recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah was led by Imam of Ash-Shaliheen Mosque Haji Mohammad Izzat Izzuddin bin Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Haji Emran, followed by the reading of Al-Quran verses with Murattal and its translation by Haji Mohammad Khairul Zaman bin Haji Salleh, a Braille student from Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah.

A religious talk on ‘Sabar dan Tawakkal Pemangkin Ummah Bertaqwa’ was delivered by Director of International and Public Relations Centre at Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali Dr Haji Hambali bin Haji Jaili.

The talk described the success of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) on his journey to strengthen eminence of the Islamic faith despite facing several challenges, and the Hijrah of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) from Makkah to Madinah.

The ceremony was enlivened with the mass recitation of Selawat Tafrijiyyah by officers and staff from the Balai Khazanah Islam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah.

This year’s celebration for the PMO was coordinated by the Balai Khazanah Islam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah and Civil Service, Welfare, International and Media Division.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) and its departments yesterday held an event to celebrate the Islamic new year of 1444 Hijrah organised by the Fire and Rescue Department, where Minister of Home Affairs Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman attended as the guest of honour.

Themed ‘Bersabar, Berikhtiar, Bertawakkal dan Berdoa Menghadapi Ujian: Memacu Wawasan Negara’, the event’s highlight was a religious talk on Hijrah and its challenges by Deputy Director of Jawi Studies and Kitab Turath Research Centre at Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) Dr Haji Mohd Shahrol Azmi bin Haji Abdul Muluk.

Permanent secretaries, deputy permanent secretaries, acting deputy permanent secretary, heads of department, senior officers and staff at the MoHA and its departments were present.

The Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT) held a religious event to mark the Islamic new year of 1444 Hijrah at its Setia Hall yesterday.

Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin attended as the guest of honour.

The ceremony began with a religious talk titled ‘Hakikat Hijrah’ by Assistant Lecturer at Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) Abdul Rahman bin Haji Ajak, and concluded with the recitation of Doa Selamat.
