Warm welcome for new students

Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA), through its Students Affairs Section in cooperation with its Student Representative Council (MPP), organised the Student Mandate and Oath-Taking Ceremony for 2021/2022 academic session yesterday.

UNISSA Rector Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal was the guest of honour.

The event began with the recitation of verses from Al-Quran by one of the new students from the Usuluddin’s Tahfiz and Qira’at programme Muhd Auni Marzuqi bin Haji Anuar who is also an alumni from the Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah and has previously competed in the National Youth Al-Quran Reading Competition.

Dean of Students Dr Supri bin Haji Sudin, in his capacity as Chairman of the UNISSA New Students Ta’aruf Week 2021/2022 academic session, delivered a welcoming remarks.

He advised students to focus on their studies and appreciate the programme.

Meanwhile, Dr Haji Norarfan urged the students to equip themselves with knowledge and strengthen their spirituality, as well as prepare themselves with a variety of skills including technology, and to be forward-thinking in creating things that benefits the development of the religion and the country.

Later on oath-taking ceremony was conducted by a Faculty of Syariah and Law’s Fiqh and Judiciary programme student Muhammad Wa’al Shafizullah bin Abdul Rahman.

During the Ta’aruf Week held until August 1, students will participate in Ta’aruf Camp Programme at the National Service Programme (PKBN) Training Camp in Kampong Batu Apoi, Temburong District and engage in spiritual, motivational and community service activities.

A total of 534 students have been accepted to follow various study programmes at postgraduate, undergraduate and diploma levels at UNISSA, representing a 28-per-cent increase from last year’s total admissions and the highest number of new student admissions at UNISSA to date.

Also present were UNISSA executive officers and key officers.
