Walkathon, awards mark National Day

Some 120 participants took part in the 36th National Day walkathon covering a five-kilometre route from Damuan recreational park to Kampong Bunut Mosque yesterday.

Acting Director of Mosque Affairs at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Ustaz Haji Amir Hisham bin Haji Masri was the guest of honour. The Kampong Bunut Mosque committee members and villagers took part in the walkathon.

The event started with the recitation of Doa Selamat by Imam of Kampong Bunut Mosque Ustaz Haji Shari bin Murad before a warm-up exercise.

The guest of honour presented prizes to the winners of the colouring competition held a day earlier for children aged seven to nine and 10-12. It was followed by the presentation of prizes to students of Bendahara Sakam Bunut Primary School who excelled in their Primary School Assessment (PSR).

Four students who scored 5A’s were presented awards to encourage them to work towards their future endeavours.

The event ended with a memento presentation to the guest of honour by the Adviser of Kampong Bunut Mosque Committee Dato Paduka Haji Zainal bin Haji Momin.

The walkathon was jointly organised by Kampong Bunut Mosque committee members, Village Consultative Councils (MPK) of Kampong Bunut, Tasek Meradun-Bunut and Kampong Madewa Telanai as well as Bunut Youth Association (IKERAB).
