Volunteers take on trash at Meragang Beach

Volunteers from Standard Chartered collected over 45 bags of waste after a cleanup campaign in Meragang Beach last Friday.

The volunteers collected plastic bottles, tins, food packaging and other materials, and disposed them at a designated waste collection area.

The initiative was organised by the bank’s recreational club, Standard Chartered Bank Recreational Club (SCBRC) in conjunction with World Environment Day celebrated in early June 2021 with the theme, ‘Generation Restoration’.

SCBRC Chairperson Alexander Lim said, “Cleaning the beach together was a way for us to express our interests in caring for the local environment.

“This is a not a new initiative in Standard Chartered Bank. We are privileged to have the support and encouragement of our organisation to carry out volunteering efforts which benefits the wider community.”
