ISSUES on the Employees Trust Fund (TAP) and Supplemental Contributory Pension (SCP) were among topic discussed at the Legislative Council (LegCo) meeting yesterday.
Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Ong Tiong Oh said that prior to the introduction of e-Amanah, TAP usually used manual methods in dealing with transactions and registration. However, there have been public complaints recently that some of their monthly TAP and SCP contributions have been missing from their statement account.
“Who can the public contact regarding this matter, and if the complaints are true, will their contributions be returned as backdated?” Yang Berhormat Ong asked.
In response, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Yang Berhormat Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin in his capacity as Chairman of TAP explained that one of TAP’s objectives is to collect members’ contributions and ensure they receive all the savings easily and accurately.
The issue being raised was referred to before the introduction of an e-Amanah online system, which contained inconsistencies on the information provided. The issue has been addressed and does not affect members’ savings or the amount of contributions and dividends credited into member accounts.
Any related issues can be addressed at TAP counters directly.
