To learn more on efforts towards food sustainability, 45 members of La Vida Family Resource Centre visited a paddy plantation in Temburong District yesterday.
Members from the SR12 team who manage the plantation, and Agriculture Consultant Victor Lee briefed the delegation on the ‘High Protein and Low Carbon Rice’ produce through the System of Rice Intensification (SRI) technology at the plantation.
They also participated in preparing seeds.
The delegation also visited Batang Duri Recreational Park Mini Zoo for picnic lunch, and sailed mini catamarans by the river.
La Vida Coordinator Patrina said the visit aimed to foster ties among staff and members of the community.
“We hope to return again when the field is ready for harvest as this will encourage families to understand and be part of the food chain, and realise how important planting is to the future generation,” she added.
