Virtual forum brings volunteering to the forefront

A virtual forum to discuss the challenges and opportunities in implementing volunteer activities in the pandemic was organised by The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) yesterday in conjunction with the Day of Action campaign.

The ‘Challenges and Opportunities in the Pandemic Season’ talk session was held as part of the MCYS’ Volunteer Chatbox programme which was co-organised with the Young Professional Network.

Panel members included Hand4HandBN founder Haji Muhammad Iqbal Fakhri bin Haji Damit; Brunei Council on Social Welfare (MKM) youth leader Hajah Hamizah binti Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Nor; youth volunteer Awang Muhammad Abdul Wafi bin Haji Sofian; and edutainer and youth advocate Pengiran Salimatul Sa’ada binti Pengiran Mohd Saleh as the moderator.

The discussion looked into the implementation of the latest technology in activities as well as the effectiveness of hybrid activities for volunteers.

The event also witnessed a live coverage of volunteers in action at an isolation centre by the Temburong District Scouts Association and the Joget Baju Putih traditional dance performance by the Permata Hijau Temburong Youth Club as well as a number of other panel discussions.

Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin was the guest of honour.
