Virtual expo offers higher education opportunities

The Ministry of Education (MoE) will hold a four-day virtual higher education expo that will begin on February 13.

The expo will be on February 13 from 9.30am to 4.30pm and on February 14 to 16, it will be from 8.30am to 4.30pm.

Acting Deputy Director of Higher Education Dina Roslina binti Haji Aliuddin said this would be the eighth higher education expo organised by the MoE.

The expo is a “one-stop information centre” for higher education, she said, and features all post-secondary educational institutions, government and private higher education institutions as well as local education agencies under one platform to provide an overview on the higher education landscape.

It is also to create a platform for the public and students to interact directly with expo participants over live chats and video conferences; and promote multiple pathways and educational opportunities to higher education locally, she added.

The acting deputy director said as of yesterday, there will be 26 participants from higher education institutions, educational services agencies as well as other government and private agencies.

This includes 11 public and private higher education institutions, two embassies as well as 11 public and private agencies.

The public higher education institutions include: Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD); Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA); Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB); Politeknik Brunei (PB); and Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE).

Participating private higher education institutions include: Laksamana College of Business (LCB); Cosmopolitan College of Commerce and Technology (CCCT); Kemuda Institute (KI); Brunei Darussalam Institute of Certified Public Accountants Academy Sdn Bhd (BICPA); Jerudong Park Medical Centre College of Health Sciences (JCHS) and Kolej International Graduate Studies (KIGS).

Also joining the expo are two institutions from abroad, Centre for Technology Excellence, Sarawak, Malaysia and Gachon University, South Korea.

These institutions will introduce their programmes, terms of admission, registration procedures and other related information.

The MoE will also share the latest information such as the Higher Education Centralised Admission System (HECAS), government scholarships and application for the accreditation of courses/qualifications, she said.

The Higher Education Expo will also conduct webinar sessions from several local educational institutions and associations through the YouTube website.

The sessions will include application procedures for HECAS, scholarship offer opportunities, new programmes by the Higher Education Department, lifelong learning programmes and many more.
