Sixty residents of Kampong Pandai Besi, Kampong Ayer, dubbed ‘Purih Kampong Pandai Besi’ (PKPB), held Ilal Hijrah 1445 celebration at a restaurant in Jalan Sungai Akar recently.
The event also saw a religious talk by assistant professor and director of the Knowledge Centre at Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan Dr Haji Noralizam bin Haji Aliakbar.
PKPB Chairperson Haji Abu Bakar bin Haji Zainal delivered a speech at the ceremony that ended with Doa Selamat. PKPB Secretary Haji Jaafar bin Haji Ibrahim said the event was the first of its kind since its formation on September 30, 2017.
He said, “The event aims to enliven the celebration as well as spread the teachings of Islam, in addition to answering the call made by the Government of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam to glorify major Islamic events.” – Azlan Othman
