Twenty-eight residents from Kampong Bolkiah ‘A’ and ‘B’ made an educational visit to the Temburong District last Sunday. The visit was organised by Green Brunei as part of the Ristaan Abadi initiative with the support of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah.
The delegation was led by Legislative Council (LegCo) member Yang Berhormat Khairunnisa binti Haji Ash’ari, and joined by Green Brunei committee members.
The tour began with a visit to Kampong Puni Community Hall, where they were welcomed by Acting Penghulu of Mukim Bangar Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Merusin, and the Women’s Bureau of MPK Kampong Puni.
The visitors were briefed on the history of Kampong Puni and the various products sold by the Kampong Puni Village Consultative Council (MPK).
They were also shown several local products for sale, including salted eggs.
The group also explored recent attractions of Pekan Bangar, including the Super Tree.
At the Amo Longhouse in Kampong Amo B, they were welcomed by Chief Hujan anak Muit, who briefed them about the history and culture of the Longhouse.
The group toured Hujan and Mawi’s Longhouse, where they witnessed an anyaman weaving demonstration.
At Freme Rainforest Lodge, they were greeted by Inbound Manager of FremeTravel Services Sugumaran Nair, who briefed them about the services provided and brought the group on a tour of the hanging bridge.
The group also toured the Mini Zoo at Kampong Batang Duri, which houses various types of birds and deer.
