XINHUA – Vietnam’s rice import turnover has posted USD996 million in the first nine months of this year – a record high number of all time, according to the General Department of Vietnam Customs. The turnover recorded a year-on-year growth of 57.3 per cent and exceeded the import statistics of USD860 million for the whole of 2024, media reported yesterday.
If imports continue at the same pace as the last two months, turnover could reach USD1.3 billion this year, said the report. Meanwhile, Vietnam exported more than seven million tonnes of rice during the cited period, earning USD4.37 billion, a year-on-year surge of 23.5 per cent in value, said the department.
