HANOI (XINHUA) – Vietnam’s agricultural, forestry and fishery exports reached USD40.08 billion dollars in the first eight months of this year, an increase of 18.6-per-cent year-on-year, Vietnam News reported yesterday, citing the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Agricultural exports brought home USD21.32 billion, up 24 per cent, while forestry exports earned USD10.97 billion, up 19.7 per cent, fishery exports USD6.23 billion, up 7.6 per cent, and livestock exports USD324 million, up 0.3 per cent.
Exports to Asia reached USD19 billion during the cited period, up 15.7 per cent year-on-year, to the Americas hit USD9.3 billion, up 22.3 per cent, and to Europe reached USD4.8 billion, up 30.5 per cent.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien said agricultural, forestry and fishery exports were expected to meet the prime minister’s target of USD54 billion for the year, laying a solid foundation for relatively stable growth of the agriculture sector in 2024.
