THE STAR – Action will be taken against parents or guardians who are found to be neglecting their children and allowing them to carry out dangerous activities, said Semporna police.

This comes following a video showing three boys running to the back of a moving tanker and jumping onto the back of it for fun in Semporna district recently.

Semporna OCPD Supt Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said the video, which was circulated on social media including a Facebook page “We are Malaysians” on July 29, happened near a gas station along Jalan Bubul Semporna, heading towards Tawau district.

“In the 84-second video, three children were seen running to the back of the tanker from the roadside before clinging onto the moving vehicle,” he said in a statement yesterday.

He said the boys are believed to be children of immigrants and had later run off halfway into the ride.

The incident was captured on a driver’s dashboard camera.
