James Kon

A local veterinary was issued a BND500 compound fine by the Enforcement Unit of the Tutong District recently for leaving waste in public areas, a violation under the Miscellaneous Offences Act (Amendment) 2021.

The business is required to settle the fine within seven days.

Failure to do so will lead to the case being brought to court, and the establishment may face between BND2,000 and BND10,000 fine for the first offence.

For subsequent offences, the offender may face a fine of between BND10,000 and BND30,000, imprisonment of no more than 12 months, or both.

The Tutong District Office’s Enforcement Unit reminded the public to maintain cleanliness of public areas.
