Vehicle fires under investigation

A vehicle caught fire in Kampong Perpindahan Lambak Kanan yesterday. Personnel from Lambak Kanan Fire Station led by ASO Haji Wahab bin Wahid rushed to the scene and extinguished the blaze within five minutes.

Meanwhile, Jerudong Fire Station personnel, led by DSO Serudin bin Haji Osman responded to a distress call regarding another vehicle fire in Kampong Katimahar yesterday.

The fire had been doused using water and sand when the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) personnel arrive. The fire had spread to the engine and FRD crew removed the car battery using a crowbar. No injuries were reported in both incidents.

The cause of the fire and loss are under investigation.

The FRD advised car owners to inspect their vehicle engines for leaks before driving, since leaked fluids can easily become flammable or combustible.

Any modifications of the engine electrical system and accessories, as well as wiring, must be performed by skilled and accredited mechanics.
