The driver escaped unscathed as a vehicle caught fire in Kampong Mata-Mata on Friday.
According to the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD), eight firefighters led by DSO Haji Yusly from Beribi Fire Station rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call at 4.37pm.
Firefighters on arrival found a huge blaze in the engine section of the white saloon car. FRD personnel extinguished the fire with a water hose. The cause and cost of the damages are under investigation.
The public is urged to learn about car fire safety and ensure vehicle’s wiring system modifications are conducted by accredited workshops.
The public is also advised to keep a dry chemical fire extinguisher in the car as well as have the vehicle regularly checked by a certified mechanic.
