UTB students shine in BruCERT cybersecurity awareness video contest

THE IT Protective Security Services Sdn Bhd (ITPSS) in its role as Brunei Computer Emergency Response Team (BruCERT) recently collaborated with Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) to produce videos for cybersecurity public awareness.

The objective was to create cybersecurity awareness among young Bruneians, foster creativity and giving students an opportunity to showcase their skills.

Students of UTB’s Creative Computing Programme were tasked with creating videos related to cybersecurity and online safety issues. BruCERT then selected three of the videos for use in its ongoing public awareness campaign. Top videos were chosen based on creativity, quality and clarity of the message.

In first place was Abdul Mu’Ein bin Awang Yahya who produced the ‘Online Addiction’, followed by Farhanah binti Julaihi’s ‘Always #latepost’, and Rozita binti Razalli’s ‘Backup Your Data’. The winners received cash prizes. Their videos will be used in local television ads, cinema ads, and on BruCERT’s social media accounts.

BruCERT is a national referral agency dealing with computer-related and Internet-related security in Brunei. It engages awareness initiatives, highlighting online threats, cyber-safety and dispenses advices on securing personal information.
