Using reusable straws can help save the Earth

I WOULD like to thank the Government of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam for introducing the ‘No Plastic Bag Every Day’ initiative.

I would also say people in Brunei have been doing a great job supporting this initiative.

Recently, I shared with my son on how plastic straws can be harmful to our environment. And now, my family has started to use reusable straws and we bring it everywhere we go.

Reusable straws is a new concept for restaurants as we would get interesting reactions when we say we do not need straws. However, I believe we shouldn’t drink with metal straws in moving vehicles as it can be very dangerous.

Malaysia will ban plastic straws by 2020 and I hope this will be implemented in Brunei in the near future.
