Urgent donors needed to restock blood supplies

The Blood Donation Centre of the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital called on the public to donate blood of all types to help replenish the stock at the blood bank, as well as for use to perform urgent blood transfusions for patients, including those at the National Isolation Centre (NIC).

The operating hours for the Blood Donation Centre at RIPAS Hospital and Suri Seri Begawan Hospital in Belait District are 8am to 2pm; and Pengiran Isteri Hajjah Mariam Hospital in Temburong District from 9am to 11.30am and 1.30pm to 3.30pm.

Meanwhile, the Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah Hospital in Tutong District is temporary closed until further notice. Donors wishing to donate blood at the RIPAS Hospital blood bank are advised to book appointment slots via BloodKad app. Time slots will be limited to five donors per slot. Only blood donations through appointment and via BloodKad app will be entertained. Donors will be waived parking fees for two hours at Block 10 of RIPAS Hospital.

The blood bank adheres to the standard operating procedures at all times; strict safety measures are carried out at the centre and other blood banks to curb the spread of the virus.

The public is reminded to follow guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health, including wearing face masks, cleaning hands frequently, scanning BruHealth QR code before entering and leaving the centres and practising physical distancing.
