The panoramic scene along the waterfront area in the capital is marred by the sight of waste disposed irresponsibly into the river.
The authorities have done a good job in maintaining the cleanliness of the area as I noticed workers in their orange vests come in diligently every day to ensure the area is free of rubbish.
However, the garbage would just keep on piling as a result of those who would dispose their waste indiscriminately.
There would not be a stop to this never ending circle if people won’t just learn the importance of keeping our surroundings clean.
Clean ups alone do not curb indiscriminate dumping.
Collaboration between authorities and the community is essential to solve this social issue.
It is a known fact that poor waste management contributes to climate change and air pollution, and directly affects many ecosystems and species.
