University shines at Malaysia Technology Expo 2019

MANAGEMENT and Science University (MSU) bagged two gold, three silver and one bronze at the Malaysia Technology Expo (MTE) 2019 recently.

Starting in 2001, the MTE began as a platform for inventors and innovators to showcase their findings.

This year, its 18th edition, MTE has grown to become one of the region’s most recognised and respected international invention exhibitions, each year connecting more inventors with industry players.

Themed ‘Asia’s Inventions and Innovations Marketplace’, MTE 2019 provides a one-stop platform for inventors, designers and entrepreneurs to showcase their latest inventions, ideas, prototypes, products and designs to investors, manufacturers, distributors and marketers in Asia and beyond, paving the way to connect them with those who are seeking new ideas, as well as technological commercialisation and collaboration.

The two gold medals were contributed by ‘Dermacol’ from MSU’s International Medical School and ‘AkuaRiz Gamat Extract’ from the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences.

Two of the silver came from the School of Education and Social Sciences. ‘TILES’ is a project led by Shahruzal Idzuan Wahab Abdul Rahman with team members Cynthia Thomas and Sugan Rao, whereas ‘Hacking the Science of Cell Division’ was led by Nurul Hazwani Shamsudin with team members Runesha Balasuntram, Ezatul Haneem Jeram, Laksheeta Devdas, and Yuvenitha Subramaniam.

Another silver at MTE 2019 was contributed by ‘Non-Linear SVM in Autonomous Vehicle’, a project by Dr Musab, Dr Mohamad N, and Dr Omar from the Faculty of Information Sciences and Engineering (FISE), with external collaborators.

FISE also bagged a bronze for ‘Competition Monitoring System’, a project led by senior lecturer Arshad Jamal with MSU students David Chin Wui Yung from the Bachelor in Information Technology (Mobile Wireless and Technology) (Honours) programme, Marzlysya Merican Razali from the Bachelor in Creative Multimedia (Honours) programme, and Bachelor in Computer Science (Honours) alumni on his way to Master in Computer Science (by Research), Mohamad Fadil Mohamad Parves.
