A delegation led by Rector of Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal recently attended the 12th annual general meeting of the Asian Islamic Universities Association (AIUA) at Universitas Islam Negeri Antasari Banjarmasin, Indonesia.
Acting Assistant Rector (Research, International and Services) Dr Haji Hambali bin Haji Jaili was among the delegates.
Thirty-three university leaders from Indonesia, Brunei Darussalam and Thailand attended the meeting to discuss the agenda in planning, finance, research, publication and activities that have been carried out in 2022 as well as outline plans for the next year.The meeting coinciding with the International Confederation of the Syafii School in South East Asia, carried the theme ‘Adaptation, Transformation and Future Challenges’. UNISSA Alumni Affairs Office Head Dr Hafini bin Mahmud was a key presenter.
AIUA was set up in 2015 to serve as a platform for Islamic higher learning institutions in Asia to interact and collaborate in education, research, publication, seminars, workshops as well as exchange of academic staff and students.
UNISSA has been a member of AUIA since its establishment.
Meanwhile, Dr Haji Norarfan was selected to be the vice president for the 2022-2024 session.
