Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) held a ceremony to mark the Israk Mikraj for 1443 Hijrah celebration at the university auditorium recently.
UNISSA Rector Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal was the guest of honour.
The event began with the recitation of Surah Yaasiin and Doa against calamity, followed by a special forum on ‘Sembahyangku Kerana Allah’ featuring students Haji Ahmad Zaki bin Haji Antin from the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Finance and Muhammad Firdaus bin Sait from the Faculty Islamic Technology as panellists.
The forum was moderated by Syariah and law student Muhammad Wa’al Shafizullah bin Abdul Rahman.
The forum discussed the reward in performing prayers, which is significant to human lives and how it can shape one’s character and the community towards living a good and complete life.
The panellists also highlighted that sincerity and Istiqamah need to exist when performing prayers as a way to strengthen other pious acts to realise the generation with Taqwa.
The ceremony was held to glorify the major Islamic historic event and enhance the students’ public speaking skills.
The event also saw the launching of the university’s new website and a presentation of prizes to outstanding students for their involvement in national, regional and international competitions by the guest of honour.
Senior officials, officers and staff as well as students of the university were in attendance.
