Unearthing talents among law students

Team A – Amal Nabilah binti Haji Kasah and Nor Amirah Aziyah binti Hasdy – wwas crowned the winner in the Civil Category of the Client Counselling Competition 2021 was. Team F – Aisyah binti Muhammad Yusop and Muhammad Izzat bin Abidin – came in second place followed by Team B – Norsuziyani binti Abdullah and Fatin Nazirah binti Morshidi – in third place.

The winner in the Syariah category was Team E – Rabi’atul Adawiyah binti Azman and Khairul Atiqah binti Khairul Nurul Arsyad – while runners-up were Team A – Rafeah binti Haji Ibrahim and Nurul Nabilah binti Haji Matnoor – and Team C – Nuur Afiqah binti Benjimin and Siti Munirah binti Hanapi.

The competition, conducted by Shariah and Law Students’ Society, Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) was held at the university’s auditorium.

The opening ceremony of the event was formalised by UNISSA Acting Dean of the Faculty of Shariah and Law Dr Sufri bin Haji Sudin as the guest of honour. Over 24 participants took part in the programme where six groups joined the Syariah category and six groups in the civil category.

The event aimed at providing exposure to preventive law and the role of counselling in law practice, encouraging the interest of Syariah law students in participating and developing interviewing and counselling skills in the practice of law and addressing fundamental skills necessary for successful attorneys, namely the ability to interview, counsel and support a client through legal issues.

The appreciation for best counsellors in the Civil category were Mohammad Najiihuddin bin Nooralizam and Aisyah with Khairul Atiqah in the Syariah category.

The judges consisted of lawyers from civil and syariah law firms.

The competition was held to provide participants the opportunity to apply legal practices and to improve the talent pool.
