GHK Motors Sdn Bhd employee Hajah Alipah binti Haji Maidin expressed gratitude on being given the opportunity to perform umrah this year. As a cancer patient undergoing reviews after completing chemo sessions, she said it was a blessing for her to be able to visit the holy city for the second time.
The 55-year-old thanked the company and Managing Director Pehin Kapitan Lela Diraja Dato Paduka Goh King Chin for sponsoring the umrah package. She said she performed the haj in the early 2000’s.
The sponsorship handover was at Pehin Kapitan Lela Diraja Dato Paduka Goh’s office at the GHK Motors headquarters in Beribi Industries yesterday.
“This is a golden opportunity for me to visit the holy city once more. I was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer almost five years ago and visiting the holy city was on my bucket list after the doctor predicted that I had five years left,” she said.
“As a Muslim, I accepted from day one that this was a test from Allah the Almighty. Our lives are in Allah the Almighty’s hand so I took heed of the doctor’s words. I believe it is up to Allah the Almighty whether I would live long or as the doctor predicted.”
She tried resigning several times as she had to frequently leave office due to the treatment, but Pehin Kapitan Lela Diraja Dato Paduka Goh advised her against it as the company understood her situation.
“Thanks to that, I dedicated myself to the company as a sign of appreciation.”
Now the five-year prediction is near and it is timely that she gets to go for umrah.
Working for the company for over 30 years, GHK Motors gifted her with the umrah package as an appreciation for her long service, dedication and commitment as well as contribution to the company’s growth.
Hajah Alipah will leave for the holy city on August 14 under the 14-day umrah package along with her husband, son-in-law and grandchild. – Lyna Mohamad
