Ummah called to self-reflect, make new year resolution

Azlan Othman

“As we usher in the new year, Muslims are urged to self-reflect, spot any weaknesses in the past, and assess and overcome them for our betterment,” said Imams during the Friday sermon.

Imams added, “Having a new year resolution is a must as it encourages us to be more determined to achieve our goals.

“We should also work to become more pious, more generous, loyal to Allah the Almighty and do good deeds.”

Imams also called on Muslims to supplicate for the country to continue to be blessed with peace and prosperity in the years to come.

“Hence, we are obliged to be thankful for all the blessings showered upon us for it to be ever-lasting,” imams said.

Imams also reminded ummah to self-reflect on our preparations for the days in the hereafter. “We need to ask ourselves if have executed our tasks, roles and responsibilities as parents, children, students, employees or leaders.

“If we have done good things, we should strive to do even more and overcome our weaknesses. To make such changes, we should not just dream upon them, but to put words into action.

“As humans, we have weaknesses, but left unchecked, then it would become harder to spot,” said Imams.
