Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) were held to a 2-2 draw by Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) in Group ‘B’ of the UBD Football Championship 2021 among Higher Learning Institutions at the Field ‘A’ of the UBD Sports Complex yesterday.
Abdul Aziz Hanafi bin Haji Abdul Halim broke the deadlock for UTB in the ninth minute but UBD replied through Hafizul Razi bin Jomari in the 38th minute.
The tournaments hosts took the lead after Abu Suffian bin Haji Adanan struck in the 50th minute for his second goal of the tournament.
But, their Jalan Tungku Link neighbours stole a point after Syazwan bin Haji Sahrin found the target in the 80th minute.
Meanwhile in Group ‘A’, an Md Alin Syahmi bin Hossaini double inspired Cosmopolitan College of Commerce and Technology to a 2-0 victory over Micronet International College on Monday.
Laksamana College of Business (LCB) recorded their second win in Group ‘B’ after defeating Kolej International Graduate Studies (KIGS) 2-0 on Saturday.
Md Khoirunnaas bin Khalid broke KIGS’ stubborn resistance in the 68th minute with a well-taken goal before Kasyfi Rozli doubled his side’s advantage in the 76th minute. The competition continues today with table-topping Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) taking on Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) in Group ‘A’. The runaway leaders will look to build on their fine form following successive wins against Micronet and Politeknik Brunei (PB) with next opponents IBTE yet to taste victory in the competition.
Jointly organised by UBD’s Student Affairs Section and Students’ Association, 10 teams comprising local higher learning institutions are taking part.
