A TOTAL of 16 students undertaking the Master of Islamic Finance programme at Universiti Brunei Darussalam’s School of Business and Economics (UBD SBE) made an educational visit to Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah on Monday.
They were welcomed by Yayasan Special Duties Officer Ahmad Rithauddin bin Haji Sabtu, Yayasan Officer Mohammad Ali Rahman bin Besir and Yayasan Assistant Officer Nor Amalina binti Haji Duraman.
The visit helped the delegates to learn the activities undertaken by Yayasan to help the low-income households in Brunei.
This is in line with the UBD SBE students’ project which involves ascertaining an innovative Islamic microfinance/financial model or framework, a project under the Islamic Microfinance module taught in the Master of Islamic Finance programme.
The visitors were presented with a detailed background of Yayasan’s initiatives such as the provision of physical capital/equipment for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and non-financial support that includes monitoring of activities.
The students were also briefed on Yayasan’s collaboration with stakeholders in Brunei towards enhancing the living standards and productivity of low-income households.
The visit was part of the experiential learning opportunity available at UBD SBE where it strives to provide students a rich learning experience and opportunities to consider innovative financial solutions, in line with UBD SBE’s mission ‘To Provide Quality Education and Nurture Innovative and Caring Leaders to Contribute to Society’.
