Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) held a Tadabbur Al-Quran Perdana in conjunction with Ilal Hijrah 1445 celebration at the UBD Mosque yesterday.
UBD Vice-Chancellor Dr Hazri bin Haji Kifle was the guest of honour.
The Spiritual and Community Service Unit of the Student Affairs’ Section (HEP) organised the ceremony in collaboration with UBD Students’ Representative Council (PMUBD).
The event began with Talaqqi Al-Quran session for new UBD students of the August 2023 intake and coordination of teams for the ‘Misi Berbagi’ (charitable mission) that the guest of honour launched.
The objective of ‘Misi Berbagi’ is to provide an opportunity for UBD members to donate food to university labour workers considered unsung heroes. The project will be organised at least once a month.
Assistant Professor at Faculty of Islamic Economics and Finance Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali Ustaz Dr Kamarussalam bin Yusof delivered a religious lecture on ‘Hijrah Satu Anugerah’.
A dikir ceremony was also held to celebrate student Andy Joshua Apollo @ Junaid Al- Ghazali bin Muhammad Fadhillah, who converted to Islam. The guest of honour presented a gift and sprinkled scented flowers to the newly convert. A doa kesyukuran and doa selamat were also read for the new intake and the new convert. – Rokiah Mahmud
