In conjunction with the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar, Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) held an InterFaculty World Cup Tournament 2022 at Court 1 of the UBD Hockey Field in Tungku Link yesterday.
Holland were crowned champions while Mexico finished runners-up. Argentina were ranked third while Belgium came fourth.
Each team was represented by UBD faculty staff members.
The winning team featured members working at the Administration and Human Resources; Bursar’s Office; Chancellory; Students Affairs Section; Office of Alumni Relations and Advancement; and Institute of Applied Data Analytics.
The runners-up fielded members from Pengiran Anak Puteri Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah Institute of Health Sciences; Faculty of Integrated Technologies; Institute for Leadership, Innovation and Advancement; Institute of Policy Studies; Faculty of Science; and Centre for Advanced Material and Energy Sciences. Argentina comprised members from Estate Office and Centre for Lifelong Learning while Belgium had members from Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences; Academy of Brunei Studies; Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Institute of Education; Office of Safety, Health and Environment; Library; and Melayu Islam Beraja Executive Council.
UBD Vice-Chancellor Dr Hazri bin Haji Kifle presented prizes. The champions received a Challenge Trophy sponsored by the vice-chancellor, trophy and medals.
All participating teams also received medals and trophy.
Meanwhile, Emil Zahrin bin Haji Ali received the Best Player award in the Open Staff category while Mohd Izam bin Haji Tuah collected the Best Player award in the Veteran Staff category.
