UBD elects new Student Representative Council

Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) organised a ceremony for the appointment of new Student Representative Council for 2019/2020 and the dissolution of the 2018/2019 council at UBD’s Inspiring Hall of Student Centre yesterday.

UBD Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Corporate and Administration) Hajah Rubiah binti Haji Yacub was the guest of honour.

Dean of Students Saidai bin Haji Hitam, in a welcoming remark, thanked the former Student Representative Council and acknowledged its services and contribution towards the development of the UBD Students’ Association (PMUBD).

The guest of honour presented certificates of appreciation to former president of the 2018/2019 council Rafee’ bin Haji Isa and former members followed by the presentation of the official appointment letters to the new 17 council members.

The President of the Student Representative Council for 2019/2020 is Muhd Alaf bin Haji Redawan, a first-year student from Faculty of UBD School of Business and Economics.

The ceremony concluded with a group photo session. The Student Representative Council election is held annually where nominees participated in a four-day Leadership Course before electing the head of the council.

The course included an introduction to the function of the Student Affairs Section, PMUBD and the council, administrative procedures of UBD and how best to support UBD’s strategic initiatives.

Team building activities were also held.
