Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) were crowned champions of the Chancellor’s Trophy Football Championship 2023 held at the UBD Sports Complex last Friday.
Cosmopolitan College of Commerce and Technology (CCCT) finished as runners-up while Laksamana College of Business (LCB) and Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) came third and fourth.
The tournament commenced with the group stages with nine teams initially taking part on January 29.
Group ‘A’ comprised hosts UBD, CCCT, Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB), Politeknik Brunei and Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE).
LCB, UTB, Kolej International Graduate Studies (KIGS) and Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) completed Group ‘B’.
UBD Dean of Students Saidai bin Haji Hitam was the guest-of-honour at the closing ceremony.
The tournament was established to promote the development of sports and competition among local universities and higher education institutions in the Sultanate.
The tournament was organised by the Executive of Sports and Recreation (PMUBD) with collaboration of UTB, UNISSA and KUPU SB.
