THE Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department (BDMD) yesterday clarified that Typhoon Mangkhut is not expected to affect Brunei for the time being.
Responding to an information that went viral on social media, BDMD said Typhoon Mangkhut is currently located approximately 2,600km from Brunei. According to current forecasts, the typhoon is expected to move towards the Philippines and then Hong Kong.
“We shall continue to monitor on the development and track Typhoon Mangkhut closely and will issue an appropriate weather advisory or warnings if necessary,” the BDMD stated
“We advise the public to get the latest weather update by visiting our website at www.met.gov.bn or follow our Facebook (bruneiweather), Instagram (@bruneiweather) and Brunei WX mobile application. The public can also contact Duty Meteorological Forecaster at our Weather Line 114,” the BDMD said yesterday.
