Two years’ jail for stealing from colleague

The Magistrate’s Court yesterday sentenced a local man to 24 months’ jail after he pleaded guilty to stealing almost BND900 from a colleague.

According to Deputy Public Prosecutor Hajah Siti Mu’izzah binti Haji Sabli in court yesterday, Muhammad Sanif bin Sulaiman @ Nap anak Ajong, 38, works as a sea rigger at a company housed in SPARK of Sungai Liang.

Senior Magistrate Azrimah Abdul Rahman further heard from the prosecutor how the defendant observed the victim taking his belongings from his car parked at their work place and how the defendant would then strike, opening the car door which was left unlocked and steal cash from inside a bag on four occasions.

In June, the defendant made away with BND250, another BND250 in July, BND340 again in July and BND24 from this month.
